Now, reissued in 2016Six Moon Designs had updated its Wild Oasis by increasing it’s coverage an additional 9 square feet ... creating the Deschutes Plus.
The Deschutes Plus is a lean, mean, no frills, down and dirty shelter for ultralight hikers on the move. It packs so small and light it might literally get lost in your pack. Yet it is large enough for a comfortable night’s rest without the claustrophobia of a small tarp. With its full 360 degree protection there’s no need to carry an additional bivy. The Deschutes Plus’ No-See-Um skirt perimeter eliminates the need to carry a bug net to keep away those pesky mosquitoes. The skirt’s generous 18 inch width allows you flexibility in setting up the shelter at different heights. The Deschutes Plus' zippered entry makes getting in and out a breeze. It sets up using a single trekking pole or optional Carbon Fiber pole. This single pole pyramid design ensures that you’ll be safe and comfortable regardless of weather conditions. FAQ I'm over 6', will I fit? The answer is, it depends. There are many factors that determine if you'll be comfortable using the Deschutes Plus. It depends upon the height of the setup, the depth of your sleeping pad and your sleeping style. Using a thick sleeping mat will compromise internal space and minimize headroom. Also setting up the Deschutes Plus low to the ground will do the same. However, properly setup, most people will find the Deschutes Plus more than roomy enough for a good nights sleep. What is the recommended Pole Height? The Deschutes Plus Tarp can be setup at different heights. At 40" the Deschutes Plus hugs the ground providing maximum protection. The Deschutes Plus can accommodate a variable height of between 45" to 49 depending upon conditions and your personal preferences. For maximum interior space set your pole to 49". In most cases you'll want to angle your pole so the bottom is inside the vestibule area. This helps to maximize the sleeping area.FeaturesZippered EntryEasy Tension AdjustmentFull 18" No-See-Um Skirt allows you to setup the shelter at different height and still have excellent bug protection.High Vent provides for moisture to escape to minimize condensation.Single Pole Setup with hexagonal shape provides maximum protection at minimum weightEasy Setup

Tent Pole TypeRequires one pole: Either a trekking pole or Six Moon Designs 49 inch carbon fiber tent pole. (Sold separately).Seam SealingThis tarp is not seam sealed. The Deschutes Plus is a Silicone Nylon tarp. Over the last decade Silicone Nylon has proven its worth in ultralight shelters. Because Silicone Nylon fibers are infused in a coating of silicone, this fabric is both stronger and lighter than traditional tent fabrics. Since silicone is inert, it has the added benefit that it will never mold or mildew. The tight bond between the coating and fabric yarn insures that unlike traditional polyurethane coated fabrics, it will never delaminate. The downside is that seam tapes designed to work on polyurethane coated fabrics will not stick to silicone nylon. This requires you to hand seal the seams of the tarp.To seam seal silicone nylon, you will need a silicone based sealer. The silicone in the sealer will form a permanent bond with the silicone in the fabric and once seam sealed, your tent will last for years. For Silicone Fabrics, we recommend using McNett's SilNet.Warranty Our products are fully warranted to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship.
