This is a Head Torch like no other! Basically, it measures the amount of light that you need and supplies it..... up to 575 lumens and that's MEGA BRIGHT! The darker it gets around you, the brighter the torch gets, therefore, if, for example, you are walking, running, jogging, cycling, etc, through a pitch dark forest trail and you're wearing this Nao, it is like (in my opinion) walking in bright daylight! Look up to see further away and another 'main beam' lights up. Look down again, the light reduces. Look down at your map/phone/watch and the light level decreases even more. As the surrounding light level increases (i.e. Street Lamps), the level drops accordingly It is too clever for words but by no means gimmicky. Rechargeable via USB (cable supplied) on your computer or any USB mains charger (not supplied) and the light levels are easily programmable on your computer after downloading Petzl's Software . Extremely comfortable to wear to the point that you don't even realise that you're wearing it! Forget torches..... No carrying, dropping, struggling over stiles/gates, this just sits on your head and wherever you look, you see! This is a really expensive head torch but I honestly don't feel robbed, the research and design that went into this head torch deserves rewards and I have no negative points to add! One very small but notable point: You know when you breath out in cold weather, your breath forms a foggy vapour? Well, when set to 'Reactive' Mode, if you breath out through your mouth in an upwards direction, the brightness may be momentarily affected, due to the vapour affecting the sensor. It is only momentary, hasn't caused me any concern whatsoever and if it did, I could always switch to 'Constant' Mode (as recommended in foggy conditions). It is Brilliant........ Literally!
