Excels Under TensionIt’s a difficult task to tie a knot with cord while simultaneously holding the line taut. A rope brake is the simple, inventive solution to easily create friction and lock cord in place without cutting or knotting. The rope brake uses teeth to create friction that prevents the rope from slipping when under tension. In turn, this also allows you to keep the full length of your cord making it reusable.As with all designs from Anso Knives, his version of a rope brake, made from 6AL4V (a Grade 5 titanium commonly used in aircraft and marine application), features a unique functional design with an immaculate fit and finish. Extending beyond the standard usefulness of a static rope brake, Jens Anso integrates the design into his carabiner design, which also functions as a bottle opener and features a webbing slot on the base of the multi-tool to harness easily into PALS webbing and keep the tool close at hand. Deep stylized jimping milled into the back edge and thumb ramp, chamfered edges and a custom made stainless steel spring are all further testaments to Jens’ attention to detail. In particular, the custom spring holds good tension and nests underneath a notch cut into the inner edge to stop the carabiner from accidentally opening. Even after his expert machining is complete, the surface is bead blasted, stonewashed and anodized in-house by Jens. The result of this work is a subdued finish that wears well over the long term. Weighing a mere 1.03 ounces, this precision tool will not let you down.
