"Gently Used" 16" Custom Made Roping SaddleIn 1972, Rod moved to Yuma, CO where he learned the boot and shoe repair business, built saddles and other leather work. In 1983, he moved to Rifle where he worked at Bullocks Western Store, making saddles and met a well-known old-time saddle maker, Ed Stok, who taught Rod the real art and refinement in saddle-making.In 1988, Rod moved back to Yuma where he continued to make saddles for Ed Stok and High Country Saddlery. In the following years, he won the Saddle Makers Show at the Colorado State Fair twice, sold his saddles in Elko, Nev., at the Cowboy Poetry Gathering and the Big Loop Contest in Jordan Valley, Ore. His handcrafted saddles are in Australia, China and Germany. He had articles written about him in The New York Times, The Denver Post, Steamboat Springs and Western Horseman magazine.
