The pack's SPINE carrying system has a double helix-shaped spring steel internal frame that twists and flexes laterally to mirror your on-or-off trail movements while continuing to provide support and stability that effectively maintains load balance. Even when you're moving smoothly on unchallenging terrain, the spring-like frame delivers fatigue-combatting shock absorption. Extensive padding on the backpanel, the contoured shoulder straps, and the adjustable, supportive hipbelt helps to cushion the load and provide enhanced comfort. An adjustable sternum strap and load lifter straps further allow you to dial in fit. The top-loading Glittertind 55L offers 3350 cubic inches of storage capacity. In addition to the large main compartment, there is a lower, front-accessed sleeping bag compartment. A divider between the two chamber s allows you to keep gear separated and organized but it can also be opened up if you prefer to convert the Gittertind 70L to one single large compartment. A spindrift collar at the top of the packbag and beneath the height-adjustable lid can expand to provide additional capacity. The lid has two internal zippered pockets for stashing and organizing gear and it can be removed entirely to shave weight. Additional features on the Glittertind 70L include numerous gear attachment points, ice axe loops, compression straps, a grab handle, and key attachment clip. A raincover, tucked into one of the lid pockets, is included for full coverage protection from the elements. A lined internal sleeve makes the pack hydration system (sold separately) compatible.
