This is the
third Ricochet I have owned and they have all proven to be the most comfortable
saddle I have ridden in, from four hours in the saddle during hunt season, to
cross country for eventing or just a long leisurely trail ride. This particular saddle was made with extra
padding in the seat for an even cushier ride.
It was reflocked within the past month, so is ready to go, possibly a
few small adjustments for your own horse.
There is ample gullet width and the head is high enough for a horse with
high withers. The leather is top quality
and very “grippy”, so holds you in the saddle regardless of what antics your
horse is into! It has been kept in a
climate controlled tack room it’s entire life, was wiped down after each use
(owner is anal J)
and has very few miles on it due to owner’s health issues.
From the Black
Country website:
The Ricochet is
a bold amalgamation of our two most popular jumping saddles, the Quantum and
the Wexford. It has a low-profile, square-cantled seat giving an aesthetic and
close-contact continental look much sought after in the Jumping world.
Hunter-Jumpers love this saddle enhanced as it is with its pure wool flocking.
The panel and tree combination lends itself to many high wither profiles from
hunt horses, thoroughbred eventers through to some of the more modern warmblood
jumpers.
The “Black Country” is a historical name
given to the industrial area of the Midlands around Birmingham which gained its
name in the mid-nineteenth century by Elihu Burritt, the American Consul to
Birmingham in 1862 who described the area as ‘Black by day and red by night’
due to the smoke from the many thousands of iron working foundries, collieries and
forges. Alongside the lime pits which
are the key for tanning leather, hence Walsall became the centre of the leather
trade.
Rob
Cullen and John Hartley, with more than 80 years of combined experience as
Master Saddlers, have made the name of Black Country Saddles synonymous
with innovation and quality throughout the equestrian world.
