This Marmot Mountain Works Kestrel was state of the art in its day and my opinion it still is. You can get a real bargain as I've taken exceptional care of this bag in all areas of use and storage.Overall, it has been used very little. I bought it for backpacking and haven't done any of that in years. I only used it in cool or colder weather, such as winter hunting trips here in the southern plains or fall trips to the mountains. It is a warm sleeping bag! I probably slept in it 30 or 40 times total, and always with longhandled undies and/or some clothing, so it was never exposed to my skin.Always well aired after use and before each storage period. It has no damage of any kind, no stains, no odors, and all the seams were sealed with a high-dollar seam sealer just days after I first bought the bag.I'm 6' 1" or a little taller, and this bag was always plenty tall enough for me.It's very lightweight and will pack down tightly for carrying. I replaced the original stuff sack with a slightly larger one that doesn't compress the down as much -- will include that and the original storage sack with the bag. However, I always stored it gently dropped into a full-sized trash can with a tight-fitting lid.I've included a picture of Marmot's original description of the bag.The closest thing Marmot makes to this bag now seems to be the Plasma 15 Long at $699.I chose a GoreTex bag because I wanted to able to travel with minimal or no shelter at times and still have reasonable resistance to dew, frost or light moisture. It also adds wind resistance and therefore some added warmth.
