Own a real billy cook saddle, not a longhorn/simco version, handmade, excellent quality. Billy cook maker greenville texas tag, pre dates this saddle before 1981, the missing seat emblem, pre dates this before 1977. The serial number reads 85 5046 (85 is believed to be the production number) My local saddler dated the silver from late 60s, early 70s, and confirmed it is indeed a billy cook show saddle (I personally questioned the authenticity of this saddle, but the quality is phenomenal so I took a chance on it). This saddle is very rare, beautiful acorn and oak leaf tooling. The leather is in phenomenal shape for its age. The silver has some very small areas where you can see its age, but still shines. This saddle is before the era which billy cook put his logo on the horn. Had it verified by local saddlery to be an authentic vintage hand made billy cook saddle. But we were unable to pin point the year. This saddle is art. The seat is very worn but it rides amazing. Can send more pictures by request.. this saddle was left all original. The right corner silver piece is slightly bent. And the wool (yes it is actually wool) underneath the saddle is missing in the very front (both sides), where there is no pressure from the saddle. This is a great piece for collectors, or someone looking for a quality ride that is hard to find these days. A very rare saddle, I have been unable to find any like it. I do have a picture of the serial number if you are interested in seeing that. The number on the tag is a model number (3697). And the serial number is located way up underneath the jockey. This is an authentic billy cook, even though it doesn't have the traditional logo markings. This saddle pre dates the modern logos we see on billy cook saddles today.
