Up for auction is a "Used" Vintage "Big Horn" Western Tooled Leather Silver Parade / Show Saddle with a Matching Breast Collar and Headstall Set. It is Black in color with a Red Seat and White Trim. It has a 15" padded leather seat. A 7" gullet. It measures 26" L X 24" W. Weighs approximately 33 pounds. It has good fleece underneath and is double skirted. Maker marked on the horn with "Economy Brand Big Horn" and #299 on the rear skirt. It has Nickle type silver on the swell, both skirts, fenders and tapaderos. It has white rosettes and ties. A rear flank strap , a (New) replaced Off billet and cinch straps. It is good quality leather that is supple not dry rot. It comes with a vintage matching tear drop silver diamond Breast Collar and Headstall (Horse size). I was told when I aquired it that it is over 30 years old. It DOES have some cosmetic issues such as the white strings and rosettes on the saddle aren't bright white anymore and show wear , the string on one set of double leather rosettes is broke (see last photo). This can be fixed or remove them and replace with silver saddle conchos ( I am including 6 Diamond Shaped Saddle Screw Conchos with it for such a purpose if desired). One tapadero has a crack in the leather (see photo near end) , it is still functional. One of the tapaderos only has one leather concho rosette, I'm not sure if it had two to begin with. There are a few dinks in the leather seat (see last photo also), but look all surface. Underneath the leather cover on the tree is peeling (doesn't affect the saddle). It looks like there was a connecting strap on the rear flank strap that connected it to the front girth but it is broke off, the strap is still functional. There are a few lighter marks and dinks on the cantle, like the stain is a little faded (once again not bad). I replaced both the Cinch Strap and the Off Billet with new ones. There are some dinks, rubs and scratches from normal use. The saddle is missing stirrup hobbles, you can easily put leather curb straps here and use them for hobbles, still functional without them. The matching Breast Collar is missing one end ring and tug strap (see third photo from the end), your local leather shop can easily fix this. There is oxidation on some of the silver and hardware and "surface" cracks on the wither strap and remaining tug strap, but still functional. The Headstall also has "surface" cracks in the leather and oxidation on some of the silver and hardware, but I wouldn't be afraid to use it. The leather is still supple on both, and as stated the cracks look surface and don't go all the way through. The Breast Collar is fleece lined on the inside and still has a few horsehairs stuck in it. Please remember that this set is over 30 years old and will show signs of use or age, it is not new. Please have realistic expectations. In spite of the mentioned flaws the set is actually in good condition for it's age and still has alot of years left. I tried to clean it up some but my silver cleaner is old, so it will need gone over again. The headstall measures approximately 45 1/2" at it's longest and 38 1/2" at it's shortest setting. I have tried to give an honest evaluation and tell you of the flaws I have noted, most really aren't bad at all but I wanted to note them so you would be aware of what you are bidding on. Actually it is still a really nice set. Sold "As is", All sales are final unless I have grossley misrepresented an item. Due to the size and weight I will accept bids only in the U.S.A.
