The ultimate classic Karrimor Dougal Haston Alpiniste rucksack - the one with the full length 2 way front zip. In nice condition considering it's age (I'm guessing mid to late 70's, possibly early 80's). If you're looking at this you probably already know how rare and desirable these are, I'm going to be gutted to let this go but I don't have room for it and don't want to hide it away in the loft.
Please check the photo's, they show the condition much better than I can.
Listed with a buy it now price - please don't ask me to sell it for less.
The ruckack has a big bivi extension that was designed so that you could get your legs and lower body into it. There are leather accessory patches on either sides, the bottom ones have metal d rings. There are aluminium rings on the top lid for strapping on crampons. There are 2 pockets on the lid, one on top with the zip at the back, and one at the front. The elastic on the side of the lid is in much better condition than you usually see, still seems to be strong. Old style metal strap grips and 2 ice-axe loops.
Payment by PayPal, bidders from outside the UK must contact me first before bidding - it will probably cost a fair bit to post outwith the UK.
Postage is estimated, if it's more than a pound less than I've charged I'll refund the difference.
No returns, make sure you're happy before you buy - if you want more photos let me know and I'll email.
This is a great bag, designed by the legendary Scottish climber Dougal Haston (the first Scot / Brit to climb Everest in 1975 alongside Doug Scott). Back then you were either in the Karrimor or Berghaus camp when choosing a rucksack, whichever you prefer there's no doubting the pedigree of this sac. Google it, they're highly regarded.
