I got this intending to bring on a Denali expedition but ended not bringing it. I slept in it twice so it is like new. Top quality expedition bag. Never stored compressed. Smoke free home. MSRP $800The bag has 800-fill (EU) down from the famous French grey goose, 80 custom-cut fabric panels assembled in a 3D-baffle construction, a spacious comfortable foot box as well as a super warm neck baffle. Its hood is designed with the 3D-half-moon technique and its static draw-cord allows you to tighten it down over your head and across your neck, so no wind blows down your body and your forehead stays warm. The zip-away Marie Antoinette draft collar allows you to sit up comfortably and use the bag not only for sleeping but also for sitting around in cold conditions.As you can see, the interior of the Shocking Blue, is mounted using pre-cut anatomical shaped baffles, but this is not all: Throughout the bag, the baffle height varies, with a smaller height on the leg section and hence an increased height on the body/chest section. The hood of the Shocking Blue is a 3D development, where the outside fabric is connected to the inside, of smaller dimension by a piece named the connecting half moon. On standard constructions, with identical dimensions, the two pieces are connected by stitching the outside and inside fabric together. This creates a cold spot on the forehead. The 3D half moon technique, offers maximum insulation to the extreme forehead. As the Shocking Blue is a cylindrical Tubular Bell design, the draft collar is incorporated like the separation wall between the cockpit and main cabin of an aircraft fuselage. We cut a hole in this down filled wall, big enough to seal off your neck with a down jacket on. An inside operated semi- elastic adjustment system, allows you to close the last micro openings, sealing off the body section perfectly. To be able to sit centered, a small zipper is placed on the opposite side of the main lateral zipper.
