Antique Victorian English Sterling Silver Decanter with Fox Hunt
Victorian sterling silver and glass decanter. Made by Elizabeth Hutton in London in 1883. Clear glass upward tapering sides and circular foot. Acid-etched hunting scene with crop-wielding rider spurring on his galloping companions. Neck has silver collar engraved with Huntsman / property of W. H. Forster / first prize for jumping / Kelso / Aug. 1883 . Cover hinged with pierced-tracery thumb rest. Dragon-form scroll handle with fierce head and gaping mouth, graduated beading, volute-scroll tail, and pierced tracery mount. Perfect for the next hunt dinner. Hallmarked.
