BRAND NEW modified Firstlight T-Max LE Law Enforcement (based off the Tomahawk platform but more powerful) tactical light. Same goodness in the outstanding Firstlight Tomahawk platform but even better. This unit has triple Nichia 219C 5000K 83+ CRI LEDs. Advantage of a smooth flow of light essential in CQB situations. The LED heatsink is COPPER made by Noctigon which is interfaced to a modified aluminum heatsink with 300% more mass versus the stock unit. Arctic MX4 thermal grease is used, better than the Arctic Silver 5. You can run this light until the batteries die and the unit is barely warm to the touch. How good is the light beam? For the folks that have Elzetta Bravo or Charlie AVS heads, it's similar, but much better than the Elzetta. Falloff is very smooth, virtually no dark / sharp transitional areas where the bad guys can hide. In CQB indoor / home defense conditions this will give you an advantage. Room sweeps are far easier, no concentrating on the annoying hot spot of the stock XPL-HI that is originally installed. Think Oveready triples and you'll start to get the idea. Color rendition is very good, far better than the Elzetta Bravo / Charlie AVS which I owned. Do a web search on the LEDs that Elzetta uses (Cree XM-L2) and you'll find that the red rendition (R9 value) doesn't really exist. NO UGLY ANGRY GREEN with the Nichia 219C 5000K 83+ CRI LEDs. As compared to Surefire? You won't recognize any reds or deeper colors with the Surefire brands. I've owned the Peacekeeper P1R and it's very blue white with the ugly green for the beam. Even the older 6P LED wasn't very good for color recognition. But, that's the cool white CREE led for you. Even the neutral white CREE has the ugly green tint. Overall length is about the same as an HDS Rotary. Yes, I've had HDS lights also. Just a bit weak in the lumen output and their rotary / click (tried both systems) gets a bit fiddly. Estimated lumens is right around 700 for max, around 200 for sustained high output. This is not a peaky thrower, but rather a smooth flood. Most of your indoor CQB sweeps are usually from 300 to 500 lumens, any of the much brighter lights will have too much light splash and can work against you. It takes MANY hours to modify a single unit, just lots of connector ribbons and ultra thin boards with very little room to work with, thus reflected in the asking price. The LE Law Enforcement version listed has a Red / White / Blue emergency beacon. Steady light options are RED+GREEN, blue only, red only or green only. 3 level steady white light via the Nichia triples, 1 stage momentary max. Blue holographic tape added for more of the blue / black police theme. Listing is for the modified tactical light, original plastic case (this is a much newer light) and batteries. There is another listing for the PRO version of the T Max Firstlight. The lumens are a bit weaker but the color rendition is tops in the market, not just in CRI, but also in R9 value which is critical. The LE version has the 83+ CRI version but more lumens, a nice balance. Still many worlds better than any CREE single die LED on the market right now, even the so called "90+" CRI CREE varieties. CREE doesn't hold a candle when compared directly with Nichia in terms of tint and color rendition. Buyer to pay for agreed price and shipping. Payment must be received within 48 hours of purchase.
