We bought this unit about a year ago and have only used it once. It is very reliable and everything works just like the day I bought it. I have 3 of these units and I'm going to be upgrading to another unit soon. My loss is your gain. Product Description:Includes: 1x Humless Sentinel Fuel-Less Silent Generator unit with carrying case; 1x AC charging cord; 2x red cutoff key.Inputs: 1x Universal input for 12VDC charging; 2x DC socket inputs; 1x Socket for AC charge chord (100-240VAC).Outputs: 2x 120VAC outlet; 2x 12VDC outlet; 1x Cigarette lighter outlet; 4x USB outlets.Compatible with our 12V solar panels only. No charge controller required!Battery: Uses the safest, most advanced lithium ion technology available. Lithium Iron Phosphate LiFePO4. 2000+ life cycles with a 10 year shelf life. The ultimate in emergency preparedness and camping luxury. The Sentinel was created to be portable, relatively light, low maintenance, and get your family through an emergency without needing a Master's in Electrical Engineering to use it.  Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wish I could power a blender in the middle of nowhere.” Have you ever been in a blackout at night and needed light or power for a CPAP? If you can answer yes to these questions, or never want to have to say yes to them, meet your new best friend: the Sentinel. Charging it:The Sentinel has inputs to let you charge it from your home or on the go. You don't need a solar charge controller or external charger for the battery. Those are built into the circuitry of the Sentinel to make charging it as easy as turning the red key on and plugging it in. The Sentinel accepts any 12V DC input up to 300W, which means you can connect three of our 100W panels to charge a completely drained Sentinel in about 3 hours.  Note: without the red key inserted and turned to the ON position, the Sentinel will output no power and will not charge. Nothing happens without the red key.Powering your devices:When you need to power your devices, you shouldn't have to buy new adapters, plugs, or entire devices to be compatible with the Sentinel. It has two 120V outlets that can power anything you would normally plug into your wall under 1000W. The Sentinel also has 4 USB ports to power any 4 devices you have (including the power-hungry iPad) with a USB power cable. Many people want to use their portable items with the Sentinel, which means those items have a cable that connects to the 12V cigarette adapter port on a car. We've got you covered, there, too.Weight:At 3x the energy density of deep cycle lead-based chemistry batteries, and 2x the energy density of nickel-based batteries, the lithium-based Sentinel packs 600 W/h of punch into an easily managed 40 lbs. Just to put that into perspective, you'd need 120lbs of lead batteries and 80lbs of nickel batteries to get the same depth of discharge in the Sentinel.Durability:Riveted into an ugly (that's right, we said it. You were thinking it, too, though...), simple, and strong steel enclosure, you can take the Sentinel where you need it when you need it. You won't care if it gets some wear and tear while you use it because you'll be proud of the battle scars. And you'll know it won't die when it gets scratched. If you wanted pretty, the Sentinel is not for you.Different Generations of the Sentinel:Since it was born, the Sentinel has grown up and gone through a few changes. Those are reflected in the two different models that have been produced. The first gen used Aviation-style DC input connectors and two cigarette adapter outputs. The second gen uses Anderson Powerpole inputs in place of the Aviation-style and also has Anderson Powerpole outputs. The internal circuitry changed a bit, but not enough to note. If you want the first generation model, just let us know, and we'll check. Most of our stock is second generation units.Battery Life:Unlike other lead-based “solutions” on the market, the lithium-ion battery will easily give you 2000 charges and discharges. And after that, is it a big paperweight? No, It'll still have 75% of its original capacity. You don't have to worry about babying this battery, either. If you want to use all of the power in it, do it. And then do it again as many times as you need to because the Sentinel can handle it. Lead batteries traditionally don't like to be fully drained or left off of a charger for more than a month or two. It hurts lead battery life. You can charge the Sentinel and leave it on the shelf for a year without losing more than 5-10% of your charge, and you get a almost all of that back when you charge it again.
