Full buffalo = soft & supple, well conditioned leather with nice grip. It's an older saddle with no major blemishes but signs of normal use in the seat (worst on left side near pommel) & wear from boots (see photos). Also there is slight cracking on the tops of of the knee rolls where they get folded up to tighten girth, etc. These are all only superficial changes and do not effect the use of the saddle. Billets are in very good shape. Buffalo is super durable and this saddle has many years of good use left in it, just doesn't fit my narrow TB type with high withers. Measures 4.5" from dot to dot (medium tree) but fits a little on the wider side of medium, IMO. It would fit a warmblood, "round-backed" pony or Appendix/QH type better than high withered or narrow TB type. The flaps are 3C which means longer and more forward. I am 5' 6" with a short waist and very long from hip to knee - this fits me perfectly. It is super comfortable with soft padded knee rolls and lots of padding in the seat as well. Blocks in front and behind the leg under the flaps offer even greater security over fences. This is a great price and an opportunity to get a top of the line French saddle for much less than the cost of a mediocre new saddle.
