Offering for sale - A well used yet still very functional and lovely Ring Oval Intention. Introduced in 1975 and considered to be the first geodesic back packing tent. In 2 years time, the rings were replaced with pole sleeves and the tent became known as ......... the Pole Sleeve Oval Intention. - 3 person, 4 season double wall elongated geodesic dome.- Weight is about 10 pounds.
Condition From Its Use
- The lower exterior sidewalls upward to the fly are weather faded and have well set "splash up" dirt stains. The colors of the canopy beneath the rainfly are still fairly bright and unfaded as may be seen in the photographs.- The polyurethane coating on the interior floor and sidewalls has intermittently cracked and peeled throughout but what remains seems stable and can't be scraped off with a fingernail. This residual coating is not sticky and there is no mold, mildew or old tent odor. It is clean and arguably because the remaining polyurethane is stable and there is no mildew odor, the floor is ready to be recoated and seam sealed. Or, use a waterproof ground sheet within for very wet conditions. The fly waterproofing has withstood time and use much better. It is largely intact and unpeeled but definitely weakened and may need a recoat or at the least an application of DWR. The rainfly coating is not sticky. I washed the tent in Woolite and did not notice any further delamination or coating residue in the water.
- There is (1) 1"x2" nylon patch on the interior floor.- 2 pole rings have been replaced.- The no-see-em netting on the windows and door is in good shape. I do not see any damage.Replaced Poles
An entire replacement pole set has been provided by The North Face and has one night of use.
