1897-1910 Al Furstnow, Miles City Montana maker marked western ranch saddle.  This saddle is original other than a horn re wrap and it shows ranch wear.  The high backed cantle is worn on the right side to top where your rope rides when dragging a calf and there are wire marks on the seat from carrying salt blocks (when a saddle was retired they were then used as packers).  For display only as the slick fork tree won't fit our modern horses today anyway.  Furstnow was a famous maker and many of his saddles are in museums today (see the Wickenburg  Az. Western Museum).  The saddle pockets go with, unmarked but as old as the rig and very nice.
