It gives a flatter seat which is required for stadium or cross country jumping. Knee and thigh blocks support your position. The 100% wool flocking allows adjustment for that perfect fit. This particular saddle has wonderfully soft and pliable leather (the grippy kind). From the Black Country web site: The “Black Country” is a historical name given to the industrial area of the Midlands around Birmingham which gained its name in the mid-nineteenth century by Elihu Burritt, the American Consul to Birmingham in 1862 who described the area as ‘Black by day and red by night’ due to the smoke from the many thousands of iron working foundries, collieries and forges. Alongside the lime pits which are the key for tanning leather, hence Walsall became the centre of the leather trade.
