CUSTOM MADE SMALL VINTAGE NORLUND HATCHET/AXE WITH CARVED HANDLE AND LEATHER SHEATH BLADE The blade is restored and is extremely sharp - as always handle with care!
By making this purchase you are taking full responsibility for proper and safe handling. I am not responsible for any accidents. On one side of the blade I hand-engraved bear’s head and his two tracks.
On the other side I engraved a Viking Style ornament.It looks really nice. The handle nicely matches the blade.
NORLUND label is the original emboss.
The head shows normal wear marks, which makes this unique vintage Norlund hatchet. I used both - a solid wood wedge with epoxy and a metal wedge for setting the head.
It has a very tight and beautiful fit.
SHEATH I hand-crafted the Sheath out of Premium Leather, custom fitted specifically for this axe. An image of a mountain and birds make a nice complement to the whole tool. The Sheath protects you from accidental cuts and makes it safer during handling. HANDLE The handle is custom carved out of one piece of solid Black Locust (Acacia). Acacia is premium, very hard wood and perfect for these kinds of tools. A Bear is carved out on both sides of the handle. I gave a nice touch of oil painting of the bear. It makes it stand out nicely. Check out more photos down below. I hand sanded the handle to a very nice, smooth texture.The handle has a very comfortable smooth curve design with very comfortable grip and it fits perfectly in adult hand.
At the end I hand-carved little oak branch with leafs - wrapped around to another side. Turned out pretty nice. Couple layers of stain were applied to give the hatchet a beautiful look. In addition, I applied two separate layers of professional grade Behlen Rockhard Urethane Varnish. This can be great for hiking, camping, collection.
This can be a special beautiful, unique gift to someone special of yours. SIZE Head Height: 5 1/8"
