Considering this saddle is almost 100 years old, it's in pretty remarkable condition. All original trim and fittings. Even the latigo and sheepskin are original. This was confirmed when I went in to the Hamley & Co. saddle shop in Pendleton, OR recently to get the certificate of authenticity.The slick seat is 13" and the tree is narrow. All common for the vintage. The only "damage" to the saddle is on the right side. Understandable with it being the working side for ropes, dragging, tying off, etc. The ring and tie is missing on the pommel, and the strings are missing below the knot on the concho. You can see that in the photo.The saddle was custom made for a gentleman in Congo, Missouri (which no longer exists), and has the initials of WTR stamped on the cantle along with the serial number. I'm not sure what the 33 is from, but the saddle shop agreed it was probably from a previous ignorant seller as an item mark. I didn't want to risk removing it at this point, but the saddle makers felt it would come off with some saddle soap and oiling. I would prefer the seller to know it's there, and determine the best way to remove it themselves. Doesn't really show up as much as it does in the picture using a flash.I acquired this saddle in a roundabout way, and don't have anywhere to display it. It really needs to go to a collector. Can even still be used once the leather is fully reconditioned.Paypal only. Free shipping within the United States with full asking price.
