Only used one time and that was in Great Sand Dunes National Park. A late Sept. 2006 storm came off the peaks w/ rain, high wind and hail. No problem. It is rated for 6 people, but to be honest 4 would be very comfortable. Great family camping tent. two large doors. The fly is great and forms a vestibule at both doors. My wife and I used a queen size air mattress w/ all our gear. two gear attics and small items storage at four corners plus drink holders. Also has clothes hanging wire at middle for wet things. It vents well as the two doors can catch a cross breeze w/ the fly tucked away. The setup is pretty simple for two people. Sliding the super strong poles thru the sleeves is done best w/ one person holding the sleeve open while the other slides it thru. This is so as not to stretch the bungee connectors to far. As can be seen from the pictures that there are some wrinkles in the fly and thats because I set it up without help. Before clipping the fly in if two people stretch the fly over the poles and center it properly then secure the royal blue clip to the corner. All instructions are included along with specifications and special features. Notice that I do not have it guyed out at all the guy locations. See Sierra Designs reflective guy lines. When it is guyed out and you get a good taut pitch then this tent can take just about any kind of weather except ofcourse extreme conditions such as blizzards etc. It could be a backpacking tent if four or five people were going. At 17lbs 15oz one person would have to be designated to carry the tent. As far as stakes go you would have to get those far whatever kind of terrain it would be used on. Tent mfgrs. do not supply stakes for specific conditions, for instance, rocky soil, sand and solid rock. See Sierra Designs or other suppliers for stakes.
