The De Waard Albatros is the classic Dutch Pyramid tent which started out in the 1960's and still in production today. Many people herald De Waard as the best tent producer in the world and the Albatros is perhaps the panicle model. The Dutch designate this style of tent as a Stormtenten as they are legendary for the way they bat off really heavy weather. I did 4 nights in another real dog of an Albratros on the southern tip of South Uist, Outer Hebrides 2 years ago and it was rough - unrelenting wind and hard rain - and it just stood there, swaying slightly as the opther tents flapped and blew down, so these are tough! This one is a lot better too!But I imagine if you are looking at this add you are probably well aware of the charms of these tent. This one is around 30 yrs old and is all solid with no repairs, tears, or patches, though its been unused for many years and has lots of years left in it. The groundsheet is also very clean and totally undamaged. The canvas is generally in a very good condition and shreds water with no problems...so is weather tight. However I do want to draw your attention to the photos showing the stains. All of these are tree sap and there's quite a few of them, 40 or so. The canvas tent aficionados out there will be aware that tree sap is not really a problem other than the look. Left alone, it dries and crumbles away leaving small white residue's that are actually more water resident than the canvas. It just doesn't look good. I'd also like to say that the canvas is also slightly grubby but with a light jet wash (12-14") away from the canvas, with no chemical cleaner at all, this will clean up OK.The other thing with this tent is that its just the basic tent, no canopies and also I'm afraid the inner curtains are missing too, so the tent you see here is the sum total of this sale. Now in support of this add I've done a You Tube video of this tent called "Sap Marked De Waard Albatros". This really just goes over what I've said here, but its nice to be able to sea tent in reality rather than just pictures. So if you are looking for a great storm tent
I reserve the right to withdraw this tent prior to the commencement of bidding, although once the bidding starts, it will have to go the distance and will not be withdrawn.Collection preferred though courier within UK is doable through courier.
