Reviews of the Seconds Family 4.2 XLSort by: Date Rating By: Martiwood Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2014 Rating: 10 from 10 Date: 27/04/2015This is a great family tent. Simple to put up, simple to put down and pack away. With just three small poles to install, one to create a bowed roof space which helps the tent to disperse any rain from the roof and one which create an arch over the entrance and one the other side for ventilation and symmetry.
Two spacious bedrooms either end of an expansive living area(big enough for 6 adults and five small children to sit out a rain storm comfortably)Can't believe they are not making this tent anymore as the ease of pitching and striking coupled with the space and nifty storage makes this a real winner.I will be holding onto mine for as long as possible. By: Tonjul Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating: 8 from 10 Date: 10/11/2014I brought the family 4.2 XL as I liked the idea of a quick popup tent for when I went camping in May this year. As it rained all weekend it was difficult keeping the living area mud and water free. Also found the bedroom claustrophobic. I was thinking of putting another tent/porch on to the front door to make another area for wet boots etc but the extension offered is expensive has anyone else found a solution to this problem1 from 2 people found this review helpful, was it helpful to you? By: Tinabean136 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating: 10 from 10 Date: 28/08/2014After many years of camping with various tents we bought a pop up! Best thing we ever did. This tent takes no time at all to get up and no time at all to pack away. We have an Outwell double blow up mattress and it fits perfectly. The living space is huge and we can fit so much in there and have cooked in there in bad weather. We have camped on a cliff in really bad weather and it survived very well. All in all an excellent tent for 2 with lots of room or 4 with lots of room.1 from 1 people found this review helpful, was it helpful to you? By: MattSW Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2014 Rating: 9 from 10 Date: 25/08/2014Well first trip away with the Tent after using an Outwell Montana 6, the Monty is a great tent but to big and took to long to pitch with the front and side awnings. The Quechua family 4.2 illumin was amazing 30 mins from arriving on site to leaving for a afternoon on the beach and all done by one person. Big storm last night heavy rain and strong winds and it stood just as firm and water tight as the Monty.Taking it down is just as easy as pitching it with a couple of practice goes in the garden. As far as space there is plenty of room for 4, and yes all 5'10' of me can lay down and stand up with touching the skin. The LED lights are amazing, no need for any extra lighting. All in all a great tent just wish it had a fully sewn in ground sheet. If you want a family tent for 4 then buy one and if you need more space ( you won't, but if you do) look at the add on base.1 from 1 people found this review helpful, was it helpful to you? By: PetRig08 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating: 9 from 10 Date: 22/08/2014We needed a large pop up tent for our family holidays - me, hubby, 3 kids (13, 10 & 9 yrs old) and dog (Jack Russell) and this is the biggest one I could find on the market. Reasonably priced and what a brilliant buy! We have now had 3 family holidays in this tent and we are always so pleased with how quickly we get it up and down without having to take ages to erect poles and consult instructions. The fact that we always get it to fit back in the bag gets a cheer from everyone and it's light enough for me to carry quite easily with its rucksack style straps on the bag! The roof and awning poles go in really easily (but sometimes have to ask hubby to help with the roof one). My only issue (same as other reviewers)is with how the ground sheet/living space attaches to the main tent - would be better with full length velcro strip, as it can let water in here (if torrential rain and very windy) and dog has discovered this is a good escape route! However, overall we love this tent - lot of pockets and vents and very useful interior washing line. The bedrooms are cosy - our 3 kids fit in one with me, hubby and dog in the other. The living space is fine when we're all zipped up in the evening with 5 of us in our full size folding chairs round a table playing cards, with all our luggage at back of tent and food bags/freezer box under table and Tobe the dog is safely tucked up in his dog bed! I put a windbreak at side of tent and set up Mum's Camping Kitchen and have some large brollies if it rains, but thinking of taking our gazebo next time!0 from 0 people found this review helpful, was it helpful to you? By: Salome Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2014 Rating: 8 from 10 Date: 16/06/2014We purchased this tent as a 'weekender',something quick to set up for those precious short breaks when the weather's right. And it does go up quick.Using the instructions inside the tent bag me and my wife had the tent standing in minutes, taking it down and packing away was a little struggle ,but not too bad.
